Building Modelling

HouseModeller3D is used to plan a building. The building is modelled in HouseModeller3D and information is produced from the model.

The model contains the building's exact measurements in three dimensions and is the basis for exact and correct drawings.

The model can be documented with drawings and tables.

Considerable knowledge about contruction and appearance are predefined in HouseModeller3D. This makes it possible to specify a house with a minimum of data.

House Model

The house model contains walls, story separators, openings, rooms, symbols, and annotations. During the specification process, HouseModeller3D offers advanced object and module snap.

Annotations, such as measurement lines and texts, can be added to the various drawing types.

The exterior colors for the house can be set using simple colors and multicolored patterns.

The model can be exported to other programs for further work, especially to SketchUp.

Drawings

With HouseModeller3D, you can show plans, elevations, overviews, and sections in screen windows.

Each drawing type can be shown in several different ways with a selection of house parts and layers. You can choose among predefined selections or set up your own.

For example, you can show a plan drawing with or without furniture, an elevation with or without shadows, on overview of the whole house or just one story.

Terrain can be shown on elevations and overviews (perspectives). On elevations, the terrain lines can be annotated.

Elevations and overviews can have shadows. The shadows can be calculated basen on geographic placement, north direction, date and time.

Perspectives of stories can be used to present story layouts. The various stories (levels) can be shown one at a time or offset above one another.

Site plans can be created by scanning in a map and placing the house plan above it.

Drawings can be written out on a printer (or PDF) with the desired scaling, including dividing the drawing over several sheets.

Tables

You can show tables of parts of the model, such as all the walls, symbols, or roof edges.

The tables are shown on the screen and can be written out on a printer (or to PDF).

Tables can also be copied from the screen to the clipboard in tab-separated format. Then can then be pasted into other programs, such as Microsoft Excel.

HamboHus

HouseModeller3D contains the modelling part of a larger, professional planning tool - HamboHus. (HamboHus is only available in Norwegian.)

HouseModeller3D house files can be opened in HamboHus for further planning.

HamboHus offers drawing sheets, where you can place several drawings on a single sheet with a title block. This makes it possible to create complete drawings for securing permits.

HamboHus also offers simulated "building", where wall framing, story separator framing, and roof framing and placed and dimensioned using predefined methods. At the same time, HamboHus calculates net and gross amounts for each building part, the cost of the materials, and how long it takes to build each component. In this ways, it calculates the entire cost of the building.

Results from the the simulated building are the basis of construction drawings, various lists of materials, descriptive texts, time calculateions and price calculations.

Construction drawings include working drawings with stud placements, joist plans, wall framing drawings, roof truss plans, and material lists.

Many different lists can be produced, such as cut lists, ordering lists, price for customer, and delivery lists. New types of lists can be configured by creating report definitions.
